New Blog, New Beginnings

New Blog, New Beginnings

My final semester of the MAIA program (Master of Arts in International Administration) at the University of Miami began last week. For the past two years, I’ve been working full time and taking classes part time. I’m finally beginning to see the light.

As part of my program, I have to complete a practicum, so I’m on the hunt for something relevant to my human rights specialization that I can do during my off-time. I’m looking for a PR/marketing gig with a local nonprofit that allows for flexible hours or is a virtual position.

My only real class this semester is Social Media, for which, of course, I’m creating this blog. I actually thought about starting a blog before, to feature live music, community events, and neighborhood stories.

I looked online for a “How to Start a Blog” article and stumbled upon a list of questions that one should ask oneself before seriously starting a blog. I think I got through the first two or three questions about planning and decided to put that idea back on the shelf.

I realized that generating the original content that I wanted required more time and work than I had room for. Sad to say, but if I didn’t have a class for this, I probably wouldn’t have gotten around to blogging at all. So Spring 2012, here we go.
